The BUILD Gala 2013

BUILD’s 3rd Annual Gala will be held on May 17th at the City View Metreon in San Francisco. This year we are excited to highlight the contributions of Marissa Mayer and PwC. In addition, BUILD students will be showcasing their business products, a delicious dinner prepared by Paula LeDuc will be served, an exclusive live auction will take place, and the evening will end with a lively After Party featuring Pop Rocks. Business Plan Competition

Break-even point? Check. Income statement? Yep. Marketing strategy? Definitely.

Our ninth-graders will impress you with their mastery of business concepts and their ability to articulate why they have what it takes to turn a profit. During our annual Youth Business Plan Competitions (BPC), student teams present their business plans during two rounds of competition. The BPC is the culmination of a year of hard work by our 9th-graders and their mentors.

Skip the gift certificates and buy all of your holiday gifts from our students! Dozens of student teams display their products and offer a compelling case for why you need what they’re selling. This is the year’s first business event and the energy and excitement are palpable.

College Tour, Spring

If neither you nor your parents have ever set foot on a college campus, the path to Business 101 may seem mysterious. Impossible even. That’s one of the reasons BUILD takes hundreds of students on twice-yearly college trips. We believe our students—many of whom would be the first in their family to attend college—have what it takes to graduate from high school and succeed in college. By bringing them on all-expenses-paid college trips, we are helping them realize their future in higher education.

Launch Camp, Summer

Students reconnect to BUILD and to each other during our annual Launch Camps, a multi-day (and fun) experience that lays the foundation for each school year through entrepreneurial team-building. Rising sophomores first entering BUILD’s Youth Academic and Business Incubator spend two nights and three days with their business teams and the BUILD staff reflecting on the previous year’s experience, preparing for the start-up phase of their businesses, reconnecting with their teammates and building skills to ensure success in the BUILD Incubator, high school and later in college. Rising juniors and seniors also meet at the BUILD Incubator each summer to advance their entrepreneurial, academic and personal goals and prepare for the next school year.
