Congratulations to “All About You” from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School for taking home the winning prize of $1,000 at BUILD’s 4th annual Business Plan Competition!
BUILD supporters, friends and family members all gathered to cheer on our student teams at Suffolk University last Saturday, May 30th. Our 9th grade student teams worked hard to manufacture their products and prepare their presentations to pitch to a panel of judges.
Our presentation winners were:
1st place: “All About You”, Unique fragrances that are comprised of scented organic oils of your choice.
2nd place: “Grip On”, A shoe grip that will make any basketball shoe last longer
3rd place: “I-Scented”, Hand-crafted scented candles
4th place: “DippyO’s”, Vanilla-flavored dip complete with pretzel dipping sticks
5th place: “Hoodie Pillow”, A travel kit that includes a portable pillow, ear plugs and an eye mask.
Our sales pitch winners were:
1st place: “Pride Patch”, An iron-patch that can show off your nationality and more!
2nd place: “LockUps”, Shoelaces with a fashionable lock to prevent them from untying.
BUILD also celebrated its first class of graduating seniors. All of our BUILD students are on track to graduate high school in June with many of our seniors headed off to four year universities.
12th grade speaker, Jeriono, gave a rousing speech to the group of BUILD students and supporters who were gathered for the final round competition.
“I used to be so scared of public speaking that I’d turn my face to the chalkboard every time I had to present,” said Jeriono. “Thanks to BUILD I now have the confidence to present today to a room of 300 people.”
We were honored to be joined by an incredible group of final round judges including:
Richard J. Gavegnano, Chairman, President and CEO, East Boston Savings Bank
Steven Wright, Executive Partner, Boston, Holland & Knight LLP
Ed Goldfinger, Chief Financial Officer, Veracode, Inc.
