We are thrilled to welcome Dre Woodberry to the BUILD Boston team as Program Director. Dre Woodberry joins the BUILD Boston team with years of experience in the youth development field. Our current Program Director, Kenny Roberts, will be transitioning out of BUILD in June to relocate to Atlanta to be closer to family. Over the past five years, Kenny has been a fierce advocate for our BUILD students, starting as an Entrepreneurship Program Associate and growing into the Program Director Role. During his tenure, BUILD Boston grew to serve more than 300 students per year in six schools. We wish him and his family all the best and are grateful for his contributions to the BUILD Boston community.
When asked about what he most looks forward to in his new role in BUILD, Dre stated:
“I look forward to working with an amazing staff to deliver powerful and innovative programming that would make a positive impact in the lives of the youth and communities we serve….Why BUILD? The fact that we are helping students gain access and the tools necessary to be successful not only in their lives but on a local and global scale is the blueprint for what it truly means to have a more equitable and sustainable future. I was immediately drawn to BUILD because it’s mission and impact are heavily grounded in diversity, equity and inclusion.”
As the former Enrollment and Outreach Coordinator at Boston Green Academy, he heavily recruited students for grades 6-12 while also focusing on family and community engagement. Prior to this role he was a Youth Development Specialist for the Boston Public Health Commission and assisted with building bridges between the schools, communities and families.
In his spare time Dre enjoys creating art and volunteering in the community. He holds a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from Hampshire College with a focus in Social Science and African American Studies.
We are pleased to welcome Dre to the team and are so grateful for the legacy left by Kenny!
