BUILDing moments of Gratitude

This past school year we were able to partner with 8 public schools to develop entrepreneurial skill sets and mindsets for over 470 students. We expanded outside of Boston and launched a successful partnership with Randolph High School. Over 60 volunteers served as BUILD coaches and met with our students every other week throughout the year to help students develop, market, and manufacture products for their businesses. Over 100 volunteers, sourced primarily from our corporate partners, provided feedback on idea or marketing pitches and also participated in skills-based workshops to build financial literacy skills through budgeting simulations.

Expansion into two new schools

We welcomed Boston Day and Evening Academy and New Liberty Innovation School! BUILD Boston is proud to partner with a total of 9 schools this year.

Entry into a new community on the North Shore

We are excited to bring the power of entrepreneurial education to Salem this year!

Adaptation of our curriculum

Thanks to the flexibility of BUILD’s curriculum and our partnership with educators at Charlestown High School, Spanish-speaking students can simultaneously build their English language and business skills!

An attitude of gratitude

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie

I couldn’t be more thankful seeing where we are and how continued partnership with you can help achieve our shared vision of a world where students – regardless of race, socioeconomic status, or neighborhood – develop the skills and connections needed to achieve economic power and freedom.

This is why we are even more motivated to continue expanding our footprint outside of Boston in the near future. We know there are so many other students who can find joy through project-based learning, build confidence while gaining transferable skills, and feel the strength of a network of champions to achieve success in their post-secondary pathways. Thanks to the new relationships we have developed in Salem and Randolph, we look forward to increasing our footprint in Greater Boston in the 2024-2025 school year. (Stay tuned for more information!).    Hopeful for 2024, we envision even greater strides and achievements as we collectively shape the landscape of education and empowerment. Thank you for being an integral part of our journey!

And keeping the spirit of thanks alive throughout the rest of 2023, I’m excited to continue sharing stories of those we are thankful for – volunteers, partners, students, teachers, school leaders, staff, and alumni in the weeks ahead. We look forward to giving thanks to our community of BUILDers throughout the month of December to share our gratitude for your commitment to our students and teachers. Thank you for helping us get to where we are today, and thank you for helping us move forward in the future!
