School is in session, and BUILD’s programs are in full swing this week! This past Thursday, a high-energy group of mentors and sophomore students flooded BUILD’s incubator space on Beacon Street for their first meeting of the school year. BUILD staff encouraged conversation between teams, creating a casual and inviting environment. Students chatted about what they did over the summer and revealed their goals for their sophomore year, a common theme being that students are looking to improve academically. BUILD ensures that students get the tutoring support needed to excel in school. Their companies already established, sophomores who are part of the Entrepreneurs 2 group will strengthen their professional tactics and sharpen their academic skills throughout the year.
In the incubator’s exciting environment, groups settled into their very own office spaces and discussed their strategies for the upcoming months–some businesses even contemplated the benefits of a merger. With BUILD Boston’s annual fundraiser coming up on October 26th, student companies are encouraged to accelerate their efforts to ensure that they will have manufactured enough products to be sold at BUILDFest. Members of the E2 team Cookie Boss had a strong grip on what they needed to do to prepare for the upcoming month. Francisco, their head chef and Vice President of Management Development, was enthused to start cranking out batches of cookies for BUILDFest, however it quickly became apparent that having a winning recipe was only a fraction of what would be needed to bring the team success. A step-by-step list of business-related targets was written by the team and their mentors. The group formed a cohesive unit, stating realistic goals in order to stay on track for BUILDFest. This, paired with the fact that their first meeting with a Venture Capitalist is scheduled for this week, proves that these high-schoolers are anything but average. Thanks to BUILD, these students have a unique amount of experience when it comes to making money, and they have the all the resources needed to make their dreams come true.
BUILDFest is to be held at The Atrium on Friday, October 26 from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. Alongside the student bazaar will be delicious food from Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse, an open bar, a live auction, and music. Tickets can be purchased at www.buildfestboston.org. Come support our awesome students and their businesses!
