BUILD Boston Receives $125K from State Street Foundation

The State Street Foundation awarded BUILD a $125,000 grant to support its Youth Entrepreneurship Program for Boston high school students. State Street is a founding supporter of BUILD Boston, and has provided grants to the nonprofit totaling $750,000 over the past six years.

“As a Boston launch partner, State Street has played a pivotal role in our expansion and growth,” said BUILD Boston Regional Executive Director, Ayele Shakur. “We are so pleased that they continue to deepen their partnership with us each year.”

“It is incredibly inspiring to see BUILD’s students make the connection between entrepreneurship and academic and professional success.” – Jennifer Tribush, State Street Corporation

State Street’s gift will help Boston add a sixth partner school this year and expand services to 400 students, an increase of 250 from last year. BUILD’s long-term goal is to serve about 1,000 students in 8-10 schools and be part of the city’s efforts to increase graduation rates at its lowest performing high schools.

“It is incredibly inspiring to see BUILD’s students make the connection between entrepreneurship and academic and professional success,” said Jennifer Tribush, senior vice president and head of business development for the Alternatives Sector in North America, State Street Corporation, and a BUILD board member. “This mission cannot be accomplished without significant passion, commitment and resources. I am eternally grateful for the State Street Foundation’s support of BUILD’s mission, as I have no doubt that our students will lead the workplace of the future.”
