BUILD Boston announced today that LogMeIn’s President and CEO William Wagner has joined our Board. The largest software company in Boston, LogMeIn is one of the world’s top 10 SaaS companies and has been a supporter and partner of BUILD for the past five years. In June 2017, William (Bill) Wagner volunteered as a final round judge VIP at the BUILDFest Pitch Challenge, the culminating event for freshmen in BUILD’s four-year program.
A cloud and technology industry veteran, Wagner was appointed CEO in 2015 and leads LogMeIn’s long-term market strategy and day-to-to day operations, while guiding the company’s vision. He joined the company in 2013, serving as LogMeIn’s first-ever Chief Operating Officer, and played a key role in the company’s rapid growth and expansion to become one of the world’s top cloud software companies. Under Wagner’s leadership, LogMeIn has grown to a market leader in communication and conferencing, identity and access, and customer engagement and support solutions – with millions of customers spanning virtually every country across the globe.
“BUILD and LogMeIn share a common goal of providing opportunities for bright and very entrepreneurial young men and women in the Boston community that might not otherwise have access to the resources they need to pursue their dreams,” said Wagner.
“I’m honored to join the Board for BUILD Boston, and I look forward to supporting the vital mission that the organization pursues with such dedication and commitment.”
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Bill to the BUILD Boston board,” said BUILD Board Chair, Roy Hirshland, CEO of T3 Advisors. “He is a leader in the Boston business community and will join BUILD’s leadership in helping us fight the high school dropout crisis.”
Prior to joining LogMeIn, Wagner was COO at Vocus, the cloud-marketing software company, where he led the sales, marketing, and services organizations. Prior to that, he held several executive marketing and sales roles, including chief marketing officer (CMO) at Vocus, CMO at Fiberlink, a leading enterprise mobile device management (MDM) company, as well as various sales and marketing leadership positions at AT&T.
“Bill brings a wealth of knowledge and influence that will help bring BUILD to the next level in Boston,” said Ayele Shakur, BUILD Boston’s Regional Executive Director. “LogMeIn has been a long-time supporter of BUILD, not only with financial contributions, but also with in-kind technology, volunteers, and expertise. Bill and his company are committed to BUILD students and to improving educational opportunities for low-income youth in Boston.”
In March, three BUILD student businesses sold their products at the launch event of Mission Possible, LogMeIn’s Corporate Social Responsibility program. LogMeIn has sponsored and participated in the annual BUILD Entrepreneurs Games for the past three years. In addition, LogMeIn also donated GoToMeeting licenses to support BUILD’s workforce development program, and the company hosts virtual workshops for BUILD students to help them with skills such as interviewing and business writing.
